Rene Wadlow  - Possible article   |195.93.102.xxx |2009-05-25 05:13:52
Dear Colleagues, It seems it is rather difficult to get in touch so I will use this site as two
emails to your address have been returned. I wanted to thank for using on 23 May my article on the
Sri Lanka situation which remains difficult.
I wanted to propose the article to be re-sent
separately on this site concerning the protection of cultural and educational sites in times of
conflict, the Dec-Feb Gaza examples being given. I also proposed a regular cultural series "The
Bridge to Beauty" as a regular weekly essay, usually around a poet. Once I see how best to reach
you I will send a couple of examples so you see what I mean. I will now send separately the
protection piece written for the International Day of Museums. Best wishes, Rene Wadlow

Hello Rene, I was wondering what kind of essays or poems you had in mind for the Arts section, if
you could let me know in advance I can liaise with Sameh and organise for them to be submitted. As
Arts Editor it is good to see what is happening and make sure it does not clash with what is already
planned, to pjhardyment@hotmail.com. Many thanks and in solidarity,Pam.

Dear Colleagues, The letter just sent is not for publication but was sent because two emails
addressed to the editors were returned. The text below is for publication Thanks, Rene

International Museum Day – Dusting Off the 1954 Hague Convention
Rene
Wadlow*

18 May has been designated by UNESCO as the International Day of Museums to highlight
the role that museums play in preserving beauty, culture and history. Museums come in all sizes and
are often related to institutions of learning and libraries. Increasingly, churches and centers of
worship have taken on the character of museums as people visit them for their artistic value even if
they do not share the faith of those who built them.

Museums are important agents of
intellectual growth and of cultural understanding. They are part of the common heritage of humanity
and thus require special protection in times of armed conflict. Many were horrified at the lo...
Roger Helbig  - Depleted Uranium and Not Telling the Truth   |63.198.104.xxx |2009-06-03 01:43:04
I would like you to write me about the article about DU - it is so full of lies that it is hard to
find what little truth is within it. Do you like to spread lies or do you like to tell the truth?
That is the question.

Roger Helbig  - Still Featuring False Article About Depleted Urani   |63.198.104.xxx |2009-06-09 02:16:59
I appreciate that you do not censor comments, but I do wonder why you still have a special feature
indication on your front page to the false Peter Eyre article. I certainly hope that Richard
Goldstone from the UN quickly calls on his own scientific advisors, the UN Environment Programme
Post Conflict Branch - their report on Lebanon was very thorough - they castigated Israel for using
cluster bombs, for bombing oil storage tanks and polluting beaches, but they also unequivocally
found that NO DU was used by Israel in Lebanon. The same false claims have been raised in Gaza and
you keep advertising them instead of just quietly taking the prominent link of a photo that has
nothing to do with DU in any conflict since there is no DU in any bomb, off of your front page.
That would be the correct thing to do. Then you no longer would be propagandizing. Thank you.

dear sameh,

first of all, congratulation to you and your work!
but since i am a journalist myself
there are some comment i cannot help but make. sentences like "Habeeb is one of those young
Palestinians who, despite formidable hindrances, tries to give meaning to his life" may reflect
reality, but still should not be used. this is more of an opinion than a news piece. in general
there is i believe some problems with loaded words. do i think the setllers are maniacs? yes,
absolutely! would i writ so and put it into a headline? never!
as i said you are doing good work.
but try and make yourself not attackable by using the language every one is only waiting for you to
use in order to discredit you!
best,
linda
