Jerusalem, October 7, 2009, (Pal Telegraph) - Israel has pushed the Palestinian people into total degradation, humiliation and extreme poverty. When one thinks about the continue occupation of West Bank and the continued bombing of Gaza we musk all ask the question just how much more can these brave people take.
They have to contend with regular incursions into West Bank and Gaza and put up with what can only be described as continuous intimidation and humiliation. The UN continues to look on in its usual timid way and allows the US to dictate the terms set out by its close ally Israel.
We all know that the majority of the UN members want action taken and for Israel to be pulled back into line and punished. We also know that the world expects action to be taken immediately for the war crimes committed by this fascist regime.
We have over many years watched the bullying of Palestinians only this time Israel has acted in the most deplorable way. The Al-Aqsa Mosque is the corner stone of their religion and is one of the oldest Mosques on Earth. This Mosque is considered to be the third most holly Mosque in the World.
The Al-Aqsa Mosque has been at this location since around 685 CE and is therefore extremely important for not only Palestinians but also for Muslims worldwide. To any Muslim Al- Aqsa is part of their religion, history and life.
Since this Mosque's existence it has succumbed to at least two earthquakes and has been totally rebuilt to stand the test of time. Why after thousands of years does the Israel now try to take this land back and build their own temple?
In November 1947 the United Nations decided on the partition of Palestine into a Jewish state, an Arab state, and a UN-administered Jerusalem. Partition was accepted by Zionist leaders but rejected by Arab leaders leading to the 1947-1948 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine. The Jews declared independence on May 14, 1948 and became Israel.
Jews had always lived in Palestine but were the minority. After WW2 they started to arrive in mass and decided to become independent, giving birth to the State of Israel, which was only 61 years ago. By comparison the Al-Aqsa Mosque has been on its current locations since 685CE, a period of 1,324 years.
Why after all these years are the Israelis trying to undermine this magnificent Mosque, destroy it and build their own temple? Why hasn't the UN stepped in to protect this ancient building as a world heritage site of significant importance? Israel's actions can only be described as deplorable and extremely offensive to the Islamic Faith.
This current action and policy by the Israeli Government is disgusting to say the least and is pushing the Muslim Faith up against a solid wall. One would have to agree that Israel is now putting itself on a war footing rather that trying to seek a peaceful solution. Should Israel continue to intimidate the people wishing to worship in this holiest of Mosques, one can only assume it will lead to a possible major uprising and irreversible conflict.
I think many people in this world have managed to contain their anger against Israel but it would appear that they have now gone one step too far which could lead to the majority of the world turning against them (if they haven't already?).
As a Christian I feel the pain of Palestine and the anger of Muslims worldwide and I would have to agree for the first time that action against Israel would be perfectly in order. The UN should carry out its duty of care and take action against Israel without delay. This action should take the form of severe sanctions and at the same time the world should boycott all Israeli goods. I already refuse to purchase any goods with an Israeli label.
This out of hand monstrous country must be brought to heal and disciplined before the entire region enters onto a war footing. The Crusades finished a long time ago and we all have to accept that the Middle East belongs to those of Arabic birth with the main faith being Islam. Once we accept this we may be able to move forward and live in peace. The Jews are basically privileged to be able to live within Palestine but in their arrogance they want to take over the entire region for themselves and push those of Arab origin to some other corner.
Their arrogant and actions must surely rate them as being "The New Axis of Evil" They do not comply with any UN resolution passed against them (around 340 of them). They do not accept that they have committed any war crimes. They continue to develop and build their own nuclear weapons and have an unchecked arsenal of arms. They continue to pillage the natural resources of Palestine and at the same time control a country that doesn't belong to them. They claim they are no longer in occupation of Palestine and yet control almost two thirds of Gaza. All of this under the watchful eyes of the United States and their subsidiary the United Nations!!!
It is time the Arab League stood firm and supported their brothers in Palestine. This latest action at the Al-Aqsa Mosque is an action against Islam and hits at the very heart of all Muslims. Almost every nation in the Middle East just sits and watches and says nothing.....gentlemen you are truly a disgrace
This evil aggression must stop now
