Shalom achim v achayot,
Hello brothers and sisters,
California, July 1, (Pal Telegraph) - My name is Jazz Callner and I would just like to take a moment to tell you my story, and how I view the situation. I am honored if you take this moment to read, ponder my questions, and hopefully reponse.
I am a 21 year old student from Los Angeles, California. I was born to an Israeli mother of Iraqi heritage, and an American father of German heritage. My first year out of high school, I travelled to Israel for a year, studied at Bar-Elan University for 4 months, and then transferred to Tel-Aviv Univeristy for the remainder of the year. Having just returned from Israel three years ago, I believe I can offer a fresh prespective to the problems facing us a world.
"The war with Islam cannot be won with bombs"
We are at a turning point in our history and evolution as a species, and I believe that everybody can feel it. We have a broken system of energy, we have a broken system of religious intolerance, and we have a broken system of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
This turning point is one of technology and prosperity. Which is here because of humanity, innovation and love.
I do recognize that there are those who believe that others don't agree with this statement... but at the end of the night, what causes an individual to feel ungrateful, hateful, and destructive.
Perhaps, it is oppression.
Perhaps, it is simply greed.
When all human beings are given the basic human rights of gauranteed water, food, electricity and INTERNET, there is no stopping the spread of democracy, globilization, and tolerance. There is no reason why all people of the world should not flourish together, provide one another with goods and services, and create a home where love can grow.
It's hard for me to believe that someone living in Palestine, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Jordan, Syria, Turkey, and all throughout this beautiful world is devoted to wiping out the Western belief of a prosperous Democratic society which provides it's people with the ability to reach their full potential.
Perhaps it is because they are not being given this same oppritunity that there is a sentiment of bitterness and frustration.
Now the question facing us in this critical moment is how do we propose to go about offering these inalienable rights to all people, and change the mindset that we are trying impose our societal beliefs. Perhaps, we should not be imposing our societal beliefs, but recognize and embrace the good in others societies, focus in on those, and work together to further the peoples work ethic, and contribution to society, with fair trade and capitalism.
It is true that there have been evil societies sprung throughout civilization... Nazism, Fascism, White-Male-American Oppressors, Kings and Tyrants...
But the Great Almighty has always shown the correct course for the people to take. Yet, those from the outside looking in have always helped the people being oppressed to break free of the mindset in which they are stuck, and it has always been through compassion, tolerance, and love. Making sure that we try to ensure better living qualitles for the oppressed.
We should be at war with those who want to hinder others for their own personal gain, but the only way to win the war is to care for the civilian.
AMNESTY PROPOSAL/LETTER
I am writing to express my deep concern that the residents of Palestine face the demolition of their homes and expulsion from their area. I call for the demolition and expulsion orders to be rescinded, for harassment to end, and for confiscated property to be returned.
I also urge you to remove any hindrance to the residents' access to water, electricity and other basics they need to survive. Please allow the Palestinian villagers in the Jordan Valley to move freely within the Jordan Valley, and between the valley and the rest of the West Bank.
I ask that you impose a moratorium on house demolitions and forced evictions in the occupied West Bank until the law is amended to bring it into line with international standards.
Finally, I would also like to take this opportunity to urge you to remove the responsibility for planning and building regulations in the Jordan Valley and elsewhere in the Occupied Palestinian Territories from the Israeli military authorities and to transfer it solely to the local Palestinian communities.
My thanks for your attention to this serious matter, I look forward to receiving your response.
Sincerely,
Jazz Callner
