Jerusalem, November 19, 2009, (Pal Telegraph) - French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner on Wednesday signed a two million euro (three million dollar) reconstruction project for a Gaza hospital heavily damaged during Israel's offensive.
Kouchner, on a one-day visit to Israel, inked the project at a ceremony in the French consulate in Jerusalem alongside the vice president of the Palestinian Red Crescent Abdallah Sabri.
The project covers the reconstruction and re-equipping of the intensive care unit of the Al Quds hospital, the Red Crescent's main centre in the Hamas-ruled territory.
The hospital building was partially destroyed in fighting during Israel's devastating offensive at the turn of the year, with intensive care patients wheeled out of the building in the middle of the night.
