Gaza, January 3, 2010 (Pal Telegraph) - The Egyptian authorities declared that it will open Rafah crossing today for the people who have visas. The total number of the people who want to leave the Gaza Strip is 6000 including 700 students.
Rafah crossing was opened 2 months ago for patients and students. Thousands of patients, students and people who have visas wanted to leave the Gaza Strip. But the Egyptian authorities closed Rafah crossing before allowing all of them to leave Gaza because two or 3 days were not enough to able all of them from leaving Gaza due to the large number of travelers.
Two months ago, the Egyptian authorities closed Rafah crossing. Hundreds did not leave at that time which increased the number of the people who want to travel in this time.
Travelers have been waiting to travel for 3 months. They recorded their names in the Ministry of Interior which coordinates with the Egyptian authorities to allow them to leave Gaza. The ministry sent sms to the travelers informing them of their time of leave and where to gather. Today at 10 a.m. hundreds of them are informed to move to Rafah crossing as it will be opened for 3 days.
