Gaza, January 11, 2010 (Pal Telegraph) - A young Palestinian lost his life on Monday when he accidentally fell into a tunnel south of the border town of Rafah.
Dr. Muawiya Hassanain, the director of Emergency in the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, declared that Fadi Mahmoud Khalil, 20, died when he fell into one of the smuggling tunnels near Rafah.
According to Palestinian rights institutes' statistics, more than 130 Palestinians have lost their life in identical accidents.
Palestinians use tunnels to smuggle the necessary goods to Gaza. Israel imposed the siege on Gaza 3 years ago and she closes the crossings. So, tunnels are the only source of life for the 1.5 Palestinian in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Egypt is building a steel wall along its borders with Gaza to prohibit smuggling goods to Gaza.
