Gaza, February 3, 2010 (Pal Telegraph) - A Palestinian citizen was killed while four others were injured Wednesday when a gas cannister exploded in a building located on Assahaba Avenue in Gaza City.
Eye witnesses said that a big explosion echoed in a five-floor building owned by the Al Ghefari family
Ambulances and civil defense teams hurried to the area of the blast.
Dr. Muawiyyah Hassanein, chief of the ambulance and aid department, said that a charred body as well as four injured were evacuated to Al Shifa Hospital , one of whom had sustained critical wounds.
In addition, medics treated and released four children who suffered from shock and suffocation.
Dr. Hasanein identified the injured as Randa Al Hertani (50), Refa'ah Elya (55), Shams Al Hertani (5), Shaymaa Al Hertani (2) and Abdullah Dabash (24).
He urged citizens to be cautious during use of gas canisters and to avoid keeping them in kitchens.
