Gaza Strip, February 16, 2010 (Pal Telegraph)- Israeli occupation authorities opened on Tuesday Karem Abu Salem crossing to allow the entry of food aid and limited amounts of industrial fuel to the Gaza Strip, while kept the Karni crossing closed.
Raed Fattouh, a Palestinian crossings official liaison, said that Israeli authorities will allow the entry of 72-82 trucks through the Karem Abu Salem, carrying aid and goods for commercial and agricultural sectors, including 3 truckloads of paper for the Palestinian Telecommunications Company.
He pointed out that Israel will allow into Gaza limited quantities of cooking gas and industrial diesel to run Gaza's power plant, and that 3 truckloads of flowers will be exported abroad.
Israelis will also allow 2 truckloads of glass to enter the Gaza Strip, indicating that the Karni crossing, east of Gaza will remain closed today.
Fattouh pointed out that occupation authorities Monday allowed the entry of 72 trucks of aid and goods, including the pumping of 345.000 liters of industrial diesel. Some 90 trucks loaded with wheat and fodder were allowed into the strip through Karni crossing.
The people of the Gaza Strip have suffered from acute want of basic materials since Israel imposed the siege. And the limited amounts of goods it allows can barely meet Gazans' needs.
