Palestine, March 6, 2010 (Pal Telegraph) - Wa'ed Society for Prisoners and Ex-prisoners confirmed today that the prisoner Mohammed Abdel Aziz Abu Lebda from Jabalya refugee camp, northern Gaza Strip, who has been held in Al-Ramla prison for ten years, suffers from complete paralysis as a result of medical negligence by the prison administration against him and 40 sick prisoners.
The society explained in a statement today that the prisoners detained permanently in the so-called "Al- Ramla Prison Hospital" because of their serious illnesses.
"The prison administration extorts the prisoners as they do tests that are not suitable for humans." it added.
It noted that it warned earlier and more than once of the serious situation of those prisoners, especially the prisoner Abu Lebda. It appealed to human rights institutions to carry out an urgent visit to the prison when he was suffering of fast and dangerous number of diseases but it was in vain.
The society renewed its calls to save Abu Lebda life demanding his immediate release as 197 of Palestinian prisoners have died inside the Israeli prisons.
It also asked the International Red Cross Committee to pay an urgent visit to Al-Ramla prison to observe Abu Lebda condition and to release him immediately.
