crossing_copyGaza Strip, March 7, 2010 (Pal Telegraph)- Israeli occupation authorities opened Sunday the Karem Abu Salem crossing in part to allow food aid and limited amounts of industrial fuel into the Gaza Strip, while kept the Karni crossing closed.

Raed Fattouh, Palestinian border crossings official, said "Israeli occupation authorities today will allow entry of 84-94 trucks, carrying aid and goods for commercial and agricultural sectors, including trucks for company communications, through the Karem Abu Salem."

He added that limited quantities of cooking gas and industrial diesel to run the Gaza power plant. Three trucks loaded with flowers will be exported abroad.

He pointed out that the Karni crossing, east of Gaza, will remain closed today, noting that occupation authorities allowed on Thursday 110 trucks of aid and goods, 172 tons of cooking gas and 3.6 of industrial diesel.

Israel has continued to impose its strict siege on the Gaza Strip for nearly four years, preventing entry of building materials and raw materials necessary to rebuild what was destroyed during the recent war; however, it only allows limited quantities of goods and assistance.
