Yemen, March 21 (Pal Telegraph, by Anwar Al-Shoaybi) - Yemen's Post and Postal Saving Authority released new types of postal stamps and cards featuring the dire humanitarian conditions experienced by Palestinians in Gaza due to the hermetic Israeli blockade of the Strip, a Yemeni official disclosed.Jameel Al-Dawla of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology told the PT on Thursday that the stamps reflect the Yemeni government's support for the Palestinian people and their just cause.
"Samples of the newly-issued stamps had already been delivered to the Palestinian embassy in Sana'a," he said.
"These stamps demonstrate the official Yemeni stance rejecting the unjust siege clamped by Israel on the unarmed Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip," he added.
"We shall remain committed to supporting our brothers in Palestine and Gaza in particular as long as the Israeli occupation continued. Indeed, the Israeli lockdown of Gaza has taken a heavy toll on the civilians, particularly women and children," the Yemeni official noted.
Meanwhile, Palestinian officials have reportedly paid tribute to the Yemeni government for the gesture that signals solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Ma'an News Agency quoted the Palestinian Minister of Information, Yousef Al-Mansi, as saying that he sent a letter to his Yemeni counterpart, Kamal Hussein Al-Jabri, thanking him for the effort and hailing President Saleh for his support to the Palestinian people.
"We joyfully received your decision to release new postal stamps that represent the suffering of Gaza while under siege," the letter said.
