1_49Gaza, March 25, 2010 (Pal Telegraph) - Israeli occupation soldiers shot a Gazan worker near Sofa crossing east of Rafah city south of Gaza Strip on Thursday.

Naji Abu Rida, 31, was wounded in the chest when Israeli occupation soldiers opened fire towards workers in the Sofa crossing, Palestinian sources reported.

Abu Rida was with a group of workers collecting gravel from the destroyed buildings in that area.

In obvious violation of international norms, Palestinian medical ambulances were denied access by Israeli authorities for about 15 minutes, the sources said, noting that the worker, who was heavily bleeding, was delivered to the European Hospital in Rafah.

Yesterday, Israeli occupation forces arrested about 20 Gazan workers near the evacuated Israeli settlement of Dugit in the northern Gaza Strip. The workers were collecting gravel from the destroyed buildings to reuse it in building new houses as Israel imposes a siege on Gaza and prohibits the entry of construction materials.
