gilad_shalit1_copyGaza, April 18, (Pal Telegraph) Reliable Palestinian sources revealed that the German mediator in the prisoner exchange deal between the «Hamas» movement and Israel, Farhard Conrad, who is vice chairman of the German intelligence service, visited the region recently about two weeks ago and held talks with Israeli officials, also met twice with leaders of «Hamas» in Gaza and visited Cairo, where he was received by Egyptian intelligence chief Omar Suleiman.

The sources described the visit of the German mediator as normal saying that, “the visit was exploratory and did not break new grounds”.

Adding, “Although he met with Israeli officials, but he did not put up any alternatives or options, he Seems that he wants to activate the exchange of prisoners’ file and bring it to life”, pointing out that ” Hamas “ is not at all opposing the resumption of indirect negotiations with Israel for the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails in exchange for a captured Israeli soldier in Gaza, Gilad Shalit, but provided that it is in accordance with the demands of the national movement that affects the prisoners who struggled and made great sacrifices for their cause, and that no one will not abandon them.

On another note, it was revealed by a senior official in «Hamas» that security coordinations took place last week between «Hamas» in Gaza and the Egyptian authorities, referring to the closure of Gaza tunnels between Gaza and Egyptian territory last Thursday in response to the security alert in Sinai in anticipation of the kidnapping of one Israeli tourists in Sinai to be smuggled into the Palestinian territories through the tunnels which approves Hamas’s good intentions and willing to negotiate.

The source said that the Egyptians told them the possibility of the disappearance of an Israeli, which led to the closure of the tunnels as a preventive measure which proves the full cooperation from Hamas.

The Israeli authorities last week called for Israelis in Sinai to departure based on intelligence information that there are arrangements for the abduction of Israeli citizens to be transferred to the Palestinian territories through Gaza tunnels.
