Gaza, May 16, (Pal Telegraph) The Borders and Crossings Committee announced today that that the Rafah crossing will be working today for the second consecutive day in both directions to allow the departure of the humanitarian cases and the Palestinian patients of the Gaza strip.
According to a statement they issued, this second day will be dedicated to the crossing of the Palestinian patients and those who managed to get Egyptian coordination permits, while confirmed that yesterday was dedicated to those who are sick and those who have accommodation permits in foreign countries, its believed that the largest number of travelers left yesterday.
The committee indicated that the crossings is filled with 13 buses carrying the owners of the Egyptian coordination permits and Palestinian patients headed this morning to Abu Yousef Al Najjar hospital in Khan Younis in the waiting lobby, in addition to the ambulance number 139. The Rafah crossing opened yesterday and will remain opened for three days, a period which can be extended for another two days.
We reported yesterday that After about two and a half month passed on Rafah crossing’s closure in both directions, its opened today, the Egyptian authorities opened Rafah crossing to allow the departure of about eight thousand passengers leaving the Gaza Strip to Egypt; Arab and foreign countries. Borders and Crossings Authority announced today that Rafah crossing will start operating in the morning and will be filled with buses, all the preparations will be done while waiting the gate of the Egyptian side to open.
Its reported that 17 buses are ready and sitting at Rafah crosssing, of which 6 carrying patients as well as 11 buses carrying visas and accommodation permits are preparing to enter the Egyptian side, drawing attention to the fact that the Egyptian side usually opens the gate of entry at nine o'clock or nine thirty in the morning.
