Jerusalem, February 9, 2010 (Pal Telegraph)- The Al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf (endowment) and Heritage warned on Monday of large, dangerous cracks in the northern wall of Al-Aqsa Mosue, confirming that theses cracks were caused by Israel's unrelenting escalation of excavation in the vicinity.
Al-Aqsa Foundation warned of the gravity of the cracks occurring in the Al-mutwadeat (ablution) area, where cracks are as long as 7 meters. The cracks are widening day after day due to Israeli ongoing excavation.
The foundation reported that, according to eyewitnesses, the excavations under Al-Omaria School within the boundaries of Al-Aqsa Mosque and specifically within the northern wall of the Masjid, has increased recently, and that the occupation authorities are digging out large quantities of dust from the area.
At the same time, Israelis are bringing in large quantities of plywood to the same region, through the outside door leading to the "the Western Wall tunnel" in the center of al-Mujahideen Road - one of Jerusalem's Old Town streets.
The foundation warned of the seriousness of the cracks in the North Wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque, urging the Muslim, Arab and Palestinian communities to take immediate and urgent actions to save Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The foundation emphasized that the occupation's illegal excavation is an integral part of Israel's flagrant assault on Al-Aqsa Mosque, noting that Israeli occupation has been outrageously intensifying excavation underneath the Masjid and its surroundings. The Al-Aqsa Foundation said there is an increasing excavation activity in the Old City of Jerusalem, and that it would unveil some of these excavations soon.
