Jerusalem, February 15, 2010 (Pal Telegraph)- Matan Vilnai, Israel's deputy defense minister, said: "construction in 29 Jewish settlements in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem continues despite the 10-month freeze decision."
Vilnai stated in remarks published in The Jerusalem Post on Monday that this statement came in his response to a question from the leader of Meretz, Haim Oron, in the Knesset.
Vilnai claimed that the Israeli government "continues to implement the decision to cease building settlements by force and issue evacuation orders, while other options are being discussed."
The Jerusalem Post pointed out that the Peace Now movement circulated Vilnai's response to the media on Sunday evening, noting that the breach of the decision to stop settlements construction include 33 settlements, not 29 as Vilnai stated.
The Israeli movement released 2 videos on YouTube website to prove the continuation of illegal settlements building, emphasizing that construction workers in Talmon and Neria settlements have been working even during Shabbat.
The movement revealed that the Israeli Minister of Construction and Housing allowed contractors in Beitar Illit settlement to advertise for homes frozen according to the government's decision, and even houses not built yet.
Despite the official freeze decision on settlements building, Netanyahu's government allowed the construction of 3.000 Jewish houses.
