jerJerusalem, March 1, 2010 (Pal Telegraph)- Extremist Jewish groups renewed calls on Monday - for the second consecutive day - to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque and pray there, during Purim: a Jewish holiday.

Failing to break into Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday, the groups decided that they would try again, calling for a mass march in the mosque yard.

Hundreds of Jewish extremists gathered on Sunday near Al-Buraq Wall and attempted to break into the Mosque's yards, however, steadfast and well stationed Jerusalemites foiled their plans.

For the second day - the IOF continued to close the Old Town and surrounding area around Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli occupation forces have reinforced their presence at the entrances to the Old City earlier today, setting up military checkpoints and banning citizens under the age of fifty from entering the holy site.

Over 200 Israeli soldiers and police surrounded the mosque, using loudspeakers calling on worshipers to evacuate the site.

These actions are a part of a string of events which Israeli soldiers have continued to do since Sunday; in order to secure access for extremist settlers to the Western Wall in preparation to storm Al-Aqsa Mosque on their religious holiday.

Four Palestinians were injured by rubber-coated bullets fired by the IOF near Herod's Gate and Bab Hutta. Twelve more were injured near the Bab Al-Majlis from tear-gas canisters near the gate leading into the Al-Aqsa compound.

It has been reported that Israeli police (for the second day) have prevented students from reaching schools in the vicinity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and blocked private vehicles from moving - depriving workers and students from reaching their places of work and study.
