West Bank, March 9, 2010 (Pal Telegraph)- A Palestinian was injured when clashes erupted on Tuesday morning between Israeli police and residents of the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
Local sources in the neighborhood said: "Deputy Jerusalem Mayor David Hadari raided the neighborhood to establish a chamber at Refqa Al-Kurdi's house, an old woman whose house had already been confiscated by the municipality."
Residents in the neighborhood confronted the deputy mayor and his escort, where disputes took place, and Israeli police had to protect the deputy mayor out of the neighborhood.
It was reported that groups of settlers, with a municipal decision, had seized a part of the elderly Refqa Al-Kurdi's house last December.
Commenting on the decision, Hatem Abdel Qader, Fatah's Minister of Jerusalem Affairs, told reporters that if the decision was implemented, he would move his office from the Ram town, to the east of Jerusalem, to the neighborhood-where the woman's house is, to encounter any Israeli decision.
