Palestine, March 16, 2010 (Pal Telegraph)- The Department of International Relations of the PLO said Israeli provocations reached a climax with the opening of Hurva Synagogue, stressing that the Israeli entity continues its policy in Jerusalem of displacing its rightful inhabitants, despite denunciation by Arab and other countries.
The PLO warned in a statement issued today of the consequences of Israeli policy in occupied Jerusalem, and the real danger it poses to security and stability in the region and the world.
"This situation requires the international community to take deterrent measures to make Israel comply with the resolutions defining international legitimacy," it added.
The PLO pointed charged the right-wing Israeli government with frustrating international and Arab efforts to find a just and lasting solution to the conflict in the region, and impeding negotiations.
It added: "We look forward positively to the recent U.S. position of refusing settlement building, but we call upon the United States to transfer its position to the facts on the ground by forcing Israel to change its policy in occupied Jerusalem and the rest of Palestinian territories."
