West Bank, March 16, 2010 (Pal Telegraph)- At least five people were injured Tuesday afternoon in the clashes between the Palestinians and Israeli soldiers in Ni'lin village, in the West Bank's Ramallah, following the demonstration which people staged in support of Jerusalem.
Salah Al-Khawaja, a spokesman for the Popular Committee against the Wall in Ni'lin, said: "hundreds of villagers and students participated in a mass rally in support of Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, however, Israeli occupation forces faced them with a barrage of bullets and tear gas canisters."
Khawaja explained that two of the wounded were injured by Israeli rubber-coated bullets, while three others suffered suffocation by tear gas.
Ni'lin clashes came a day after Israeli occupation authorities had declared the area where the wall is being worked in the south and west of the village a closed military zone on Fridays, for six months.
Khawaja stressed that Israeli occupation decision will not stop the popular struggle against the wall and settlements, and that it was an attempt to impose a fait accompli on the ground, to prevent people from cultivating more than 2000 dunums (494 acres) of land and destroy their livelihood.
