settlmentsJerusalem, March 30 (Pal Telegraph) The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics issued a press statement on the fourth anniversary of the thirty third Land Day today, it showed that more than 85% of historic Palestinian land is under Israeli control, and 55% of settlers in the West Bank live in the province of Jerusalem.

The Israeli occupation held a buffer zone along the Gaza Strip border with a width exceeding 1,500 m along the eastern border of the sector, amounting to about 58 km, which means that it applied up to 87 km ² of the total area of the Gaza Strip, and thus the Israeli occupation controlled the amount of 24% of the area amounting to 365 km ² which is the most crowded and densely populated area.

It also noted the continuing policy of house demolitions in Jerusalem under a policy of Judaizing the ground and emptying it of any Palestinian population, and about 50 million fines for Jerusalemites of unlicensed construction claims.

In the province of Jerusalem, the occupation authorities didn’t settle with their policies towards the Palestinians by withdrawing their identities and demolishing their houses, but worked in every direction towards oppressing Palestinians in all aspects of their daily lives through a variety of policies that can not be accounted for.

The occupation authorities have demolished Palestinian houses and created hurdles for the issuance of building permits to Palestinians, since the year 2000 until January 2010 upto 1,010 housing units in East Jerusalem (that part of Jerusalem which were annexed forcefully by Israel following its occupation of the West Bank in 1967) were demolished.
