West Bank, April 15, (Pal Telegraph) The Israeli Ministry of Justice announced that in the near future it will be forming a committee to examine the legality of physical liquidation by the Israeli army against wanted Palestinians, which was approved by the court, and as a result of a petition filed by the Committee against Torture in December 2006.
Ha'aretz reported that the formation of this committee was addressed by the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Defense, and the steps to set it up are in its final stages.
In the meantime, the lawyer of the Committee against Torture, Michael Sfrao, criticized Menachem Mazuz, Ex-attorney General, because he didn’t check the allegations about illegal assassination executed by the military, but relied on the examination of the general military prosecutor and the army's alleged story, despite the obvious facts that were reported by Ha'aretz.
The report pointed out that the Ministry of Justice supports the army’s assassinations even though they contravene the decision of the Supreme Court’s petition.
The lawyer demanded a criminal investigation against members of the military and those involved in the events described in the report of Ha'aretz, which claimed that the army carried out the liquidation of Palestinians, contrary to the decisions of the Supreme Court’s petition which indicated that the operations should be arrest operations.
Sfrao indicated that the General Attorney didn’t order an external investigation and settled with the army’s internal investigation, meanwhile Mezuz insisted on the fact that the picture that appeared in the documents isn’t complete.
